Meet Tommy’s Gang
Mary Summers
Owner, Driver, & Tommy’s Mom
Mary named Tommy’s Compost Service after her adorable son, Thomas (to the right). Her service is named after Thomas because she wanted to do something that would fight the climate crisis and help him to have a more sustainable future.
Mary has her BS in Biology and was a middle school teacher for five years. Mary will joke that she “retired” from teaching, but she to a risk to pursue her dream of running Tommy’s Compost Service full-time.
In her spare time, you can find Mary and Tommy hiking, going for walks with their dogs, and spending time with family and friends.
Tommy
Toddler & Foodie
Thomas is the cute toddler that Mary named Tommy’s Compost Service after. Although he’s just a kid, Tommy thinks that composting is pretty cool! When he’s not eating his favorite foods, he likes to play with his toys and read books.
Eric
Our Awesome Volunteer
Eric is a wonderful community member who came to Tommy’s Compost Service because he was looking for a new role within his community. He has autism, which means that he best enjoys work that is repetitive and predictable. He has been thriving when he works with Mary when they go on their trip to North County. Feel free to say hello to Eric and Mary when you see them out and about collecting food waste.
Guy
Mascot & 5-Gallon Bucket
Our mascot is a cute bucket named Guy! You can see him at events and on most of Tommy’s Compost Service’s outreach and flyers. Sometimes he is full of candy, or dog treats, but he is often paired with his handy dandy banana peel.
